Margaret Zita OAM

Margaret Zita OAM has a love of family and a passion for life. After spending over 10 years across the sporting and media sectors, Margaret embarked on a 30-year career at Qantas Airlines. Along the way, she discovered her deep commitment to the cause of children’s cancer, volunteering her services to the My Room Children’s Cancer Charity for over 20 years. During this time, she raised vital awareness and funds to support families, enhance clinical care, and invest in research aimed at finding a cure for all childhood cancers.
In 2019, Margaret was appointed as My Room’s first full-time executive in its 30-year history, marking a new chapter for the charity. Under her leadership, My Room has experienced tremendous growth and success. Most notably, she has overseen the My Room Grand Final Spectacular on the Nine Network, an annual event that has become a flagship initiative for raising critical funds and awareness. This event, along with her strategic vision, has helped drive significant support and progress toward My Room’s mission of improving the lives of children with cancer and their families.
Margaret brings with her a wealth of knowledge about childhood cancer, deeply understanding the challenges faced not only by the children but also by their families. She continues to lead My Room’s all-volunteer committee, pushing the charity forward to ensure that crucial research and trials continue. Her tireless dedication is driven by the belief that a 100% cure is within reach.
Margaret is also a proud mother of three sons, aged 27, 22, and 17, and loves her fur puppies Molly and Abbie. In recognition of her exceptional service to the community through charitable initiatives, she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM).
