RYPEN (Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment) is a weekend-long camp designed for young people, aged 14–17, to be empowered, discover their potential and grow personally. Across the program, participants will explore various topics through guest speakers, interactive workshops, team challenges & hands-on activities.
 
Through RYPEN, participants will: 
 
  • Grow personally through increased self‑awareness, confidence, and adaptability
  • Strengthen communication and teamwork skills in diverse groups 
  • Develop an appreciation for community service and making a positive impact 
  • Form new friendships and meaningful peer connections

Who Should Apply?
RYPEN is designed for young people aged 14-17 (Year 9, 10, 11) who are: 

  • Open‑minded and eager to learn 
  • Showing emerging leadership qualities or a positive attitude
  • Ready to build confidence and unlock their leadership potential
  • Keen to meet new people and step outside their comfort zone
  • Looking for a fun, supportive environment to grow and discover what they can do
  • Motivated to make a difference - in their school, community, or personal life

 

Do I need to be a “leader” to apply?
Not at all, RYPEN is open to everyone – we don’t expect experienced leaders, just an open mind ready to try new things. 

 

I have school, how will I get there?
No worries! RYPEN starts late Friday afternoon, giving you time to finish school and get to the venue. We will be in touch about all the transport details closer to the camp. 

 

How much does it cost?
Rotary clubs financially sponsor all RYPEN participants, so there is no cost to the participant. To find your nearest Rotary club, click here.

 

Who runs RYPEN? 
RYPEN is run by a team of passionate volunteers, led by our amazing lead facilitators, some of which have done RYPEN in the past. The program is supported by Rotary members from across the district. 

 

What should I bring with me to camp?
All confirmed attendees will be emailed a full packing list prior to camp.  Accommodation will be dormitory style although sleeping bag or bedding, and a pillow will be required. 

 

I don’t know anyone else going, is that okay?
Absolutely! Most participants come to RYPEN not knowing anyone. The program is designed to help you meet new people, make friends quickly, and feel comfortable from the moment you arrive. 

 

What protection policies are in place?
Rotary operates under strict Youth Protection Guidelines. All volunteers involved in running the camp must hold a valid VIC Working with Children Check and Police Check. There are also trained First Aid & Mental Health First Aid officers on every camp.
