RC Maffra - Mardi Gras

The Rotary Club of Maffra Family Mardi Gras takes place on Saturday March 15th from 4pm to 8.30 pm.  

It started in 1957 with a group of businessmen who wanted to raise funds for the local hospital. Since then the event has raised over $4 million for various organisations within Wellington Shire. Fundraising Entrants plan a series of events to raise money for their organisations, for specific projects, over a period of 6 weeks.

At the end of this time there is a Carnival, with street parade, marching bands, floats, vintage vehicles, trucks, tractors etc. There are free children’s activities, market and food stalls and musical entertainment.

A wonderful event that brings people together in a spirit of community, creativity and fun.
