DESCRIPTION:The Rotary Club of Maffra Family Mardi Gras takes place on Satu
 rday March 15th from 4pm to 8.30 pm.   It started in 1957 with a group of
  businessmen who wanted to raise funds for the local hospital. Since then 
 the event has raised over $4 million for various organisations within Well
 ington Shire. Fundraising Entrants plan a series of events to raise money 
 for their organisations\, for specific projects\, over a period of 6 weeks
 . At the end of this time there is a Carnival\, with street parade\, march
 ing bands\, floats\, vintage vehicles\, trucks\, tractors etc. There are f
 ree children’s activities\, market and food stalls and musical entertain
 ment. A wonderful event that brings people together in a spirit of communi
 ty\, creativity and fun.
