Model United Nations Assembly
The Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA) was established in Australia in 1980 and is designed to simulate the working of the United Nations General Assembly. It achieves this by having school teams of three Year 11 students representing a particular UN country in structured debates on matters of world politics and social concern. The Assembly is structured in such a way to develop bridges of goodwill for the furtherance of world peace and understanding. In addition, it develops in Year 11 students an awareness of the United Nations and the current international situation of some of the world's countries. Students are challenged to improve their public speaking and debating skills and make informed comments on real-world problems while sharing their opinions and forming friendships with other students in D9815.
